Wait for the Power
Acts 1:1-11: Wait for the Power - From our series "Acts: The Story Continues..."
Wait for the Power | Acts 1
Before the Church was sent… it was told to wait.
In Acts 1, Jesus gives His disciples a command that runs against every instinct we often have... don’t go yet… don’t act yet… wait.
Before the mission begins, before the gospel goes out to the nations, Jesus calls His followers to remain in Jerusalem and wait for the promise of the Father. They are not being sent out in their own strength, strategy, or ability - but in the power of the Holy Spirit.
In this message from our series,“Acts: The Story Continues,”we explore what it means to be a people who wait on God. As the disciples gather in unity, devotion, and prayer, we begin to see a picture of the kind of posture that prepares the Church for the work of God.
Because the mission of God is not something we accomplish for Him…
It is the presence of God Himself, working in and through His people.
Too often, we rush ahead—busy, active, and full of plans—yet lacking the very power Jesus promised.
But Acts 1 reminds us that before we go… we must wait.
Before we act… we must abide.
Before we speak… we must be filled.
